for my prostitution class, we have to write a final paper on whichever topic we choose in the field of, obviously, sex work and the industry in general.
i'm thinking of doing my paper on sex work in singapore.
so i google it, and i come across a video by the tv show 'get real!' on gay prostitution.

and it's quite enlightening because apparently the clients and the pros themselves are in denial of potential sexually transmitted diseases, they adopt the don't ask, don't tell policy which can be very dangerous for their own healths.
i like that finally someone is highlighting the issue on national televsion because we can finally talk about it.

but then i really hated the way they approached the whole issue from the standpoint of moral high ground-
the parts about how it's so 'disturbing', and how it's taking place right in front of us.
come on, let's be honest. it happens everywhere, all the fricking time.
it's almost as if the 'problem' is blown out of proportion only because it has to do with homosexuality.

the narrator says, in the video, that it is so disturbing because it happens so openly,
like it doesn't in geylang amongst foreign workers. i, for one, have seen a transaction take place between a man and a woman right in front of the restaurant we were dining at, in broad daylight.
so what makes this less disturbing and horrifying??
the only difference is that in the case of the video these clients are men looking for men.

i'm not exactly articulating my point well here at all, but what i am trying to say is,
that this would be totally acceptable if it was set in a heterosexual context,

people really need to get over the fact that some people are just more inclined to homosexuality.

homophobia really pisses me off.
